Paulilatino, crowd and emotion for the last farewell to Roberto Daga and Mario Sedda
The farewell to the two motorcyclists who died in the tragic accident along the road to Ula Tirso. An immense crowd and a lot of emotion at the religious function to give the last farewell to Roberto Daga and Mario Sedda, the two motorcycles aged 27 and 31 respectively who died together with their thirty-two year old friend Giovanni Melis (originally from Gadoni, the center where at the same time the other funeral celebration), in the tragic accident that occurred late on Saturday morning along the road that connects Paulilatino to Ula Tirso . Many motorcyclists waited outside the church for the exit of the two coffins, carried on their shoulders by friends to the cemetery. And then after the roar of the engines, a long applause and many, many tears.
Words of sympathy from the parish priest Don Simon Pedro : «Dear boys and dear young people, I share with you the pain of the loss of your friends and I remind you that life is a beautiful passion that you are called to live with your whole being, expressing the best of your skills and intelligence. We all have in our eyes what happened yesterday, we entrust you to the Lord so that tragedies like yesterday's never happen to us again, I will be close to you with affection and with my prayers so that you can relieve yourself of this immense pain."
At the end of the function , Mayor Domenico Gallus spoke: «Any word does not fill the great pain that our community goes through. We must make ourselves strong, we owe it to our dear children who have left us, to their families. I have received dozens of phone calls and messages from mayors and also from the regional councilor for the environment. This morning we couldn't see anyone around, the entire community is closed in its pain. They were polite, good, helpful kids, they will remain excellent." And Gallus added: «There was a long phone call with the mayor of Gadoni who expressed to me the idea of returning us Paulians to Gadoni and them to us to remember our boys with a day together. A thought also goes to our hospitalized fellow citizens, who are also total victims."
Even the Archbishop Monsignor Roberto Carboni , returning from the Catholic Social Week which was celebrated in recent days in Trieste, wanted to send a message of condolence: «The tragedy that struck the communities of Paulilatino, Gadoni and Abbasanta involves the entire Archdiocese of Arborea and pushes us to pray with even greater strength for the souls of these enthusiastic young people eager for life, but also for the families and towns that mourn them with immense pain. May the Lord of life welcome them into his peace and give everyone the strength that comes from faith in the One who conquered death forever."
