Approximately 10,000 counterfeit toys that did not comply with safety standards were seized today in Sassari. The toys were confiscated in a joint operation by the Customs Agency and the Special Operations Unit for Trade of the Sassari local police command.

The activity took place in a medium-sized retail store in the municipality, where operators discovered toys intended for sale but which did not meet the requirements. The business owner was reported to the judicial authorities for alleged fraud in the exercise of business and for introducing and selling products with false markings.

The intervention seems particularly timely following the recent injury of a child in France, who was hit by an exploding squishy toy and suffered burns to his face and chest. Similarly, approximately 1,600 unsafe toys were seized in the Cosenza area.
