Ozieri, the committee cancels the celebrations: «We should have done it yesterday, but it was not possible»

An autopsy has been ordered on the body of Gioele Putzu , the 9-year-old boy who was hit and killed yesterday in Ozieri by the collapse of a soccer goal while playing with friends. Tomorrow the task will be assigned to the coroner, the Sassari Prosecutor's Office has placed the "Meledina" sports field under sequestration , in the hamlet of San Nicola, where this morning the Carabinieri of the local Company took away the collapsed goal that will be subjected to investigations.

But in the village the controversy over what happened yesterday is taking center stage, the wave of indignation for the patronal festival that did not stop, for the Fedez concert at 10 pm (shortly after the tragedy) that was decidedly out of place with a community mourning the tragic death . Today the association Beata Vergine del Rimedio announced the stop to the civil celebrations planned for today in Ozieri . It did so with a post on Facebook in which it decided to limit comments.

"Following the tragedy that occurred yesterday in our city, the Beata Vergine del Rimedio religious society, having made all the necessary considerations, deems it appropriate to cancel the civil celebrations and procession of folk groups and knights today, Sunday 15 September . We confirm the purely religious celebrations, embracing the family's grief with affection. A painful but necessary choice. A choice that we should have made yesterday but were unable to do so for reasons of public order and technical-logistical reasons to which we had to scrupulously adhere ", the association informs.

Mayor Marco Peralta yesterday, addressing his thoughts to the family of little Gioele, specified that "given the large influx of people, the public safety authorities deemed it unnecessary to suspend the scheduled event for reasons of public order ."

The mayor's post had raised a wave of indignation : «No respect», «A concert a few hours and a few steps away from the tragedy, everyone will have to deal with their own conscience», «There is a time for everything: this is the time of the most excruciating pain, not of concerts», are just some of the comments.
