The controversy over the traffic disruption created by the closure of the Tirso Bridge continues. And after the polemical intervention of the mayor of Oristano, Massimiliano Sanna , on the lack of involvement in the planning of the works by the Province, comes the reply from the extraordinary administrator of the institution in via Carboni.
«My personal invitation is to mitigate the tone of a controversy which sees momentary protagonists of local political and administrative life and requires a higher level of reading and behavior», states Massimo Torrente who insists: «The regret is light accusations towards the Province directly by the mayor, Massimiliano Sanna, and by the councilor for urban planning, Ivano Cuccu, public administrators also involved in the inconveniences created in the city by the various open construction sites , from whom I would have appreciated interventions aimed at dampening the natural complaints of the citizens towards the Province which is working for public safety".
Severe words that follow the mayor's declarations by a few days. «Given that this was not the best time to plan an intervention with such an impact on traffic, the fact remains that there was no prior discussion to agree on suitable measures to mitigate the inconvenience - accused Sanna - Nobody discusses the urgency of the works, the safety is a priority but it is clear that something has been overlooked in the planning of the intervention ."
Accusations rejected by the provincial technical office which points out: «The discussion with the commander of the municipal police took place prior to the start of the works in order to agree on the signs indicating the alternative routes, duly created by the executing company». The technicians also underline that in that phase "the councilor Cuccu himself intervened and raised strong doubts and initially prevented the closure of the shopping center car parks" on the proposal of the Province to facilitate the flow of traffic. "Only subsequently - they conclude - the traffic jams generated led the councilor to order the closure of the car parks, which is still in force but has never been enforced". The brawl continues, at least until July 31, the day on which the new Tirso bridge should reopen to traffic .
