The pines of Torre Grande, on the coast of Oristano , can be cut down. This was decided by the Tar, which definitively rejected the appeal presented by the "Lungomare con i pini" Committee against the 5.7 million euro project for the redevelopment of the seafront.

The judges, it is explained in a note from the Municipality, "did not consider the reasons for the appeal to be founded, agreeing with the choices of the administration, the Region and the Union of Municipalities Costa del Sinis Terra dei Giganti and the Province of Oristano (these the latter did not appear in court).

The Lungomare con i Pini Committee was represented by the lawyers Andrea Pubusa and Paolo Pubusa, the Municipality of Oristano by the institution's lawyer Gianna Caccavale and the Region by the lawyers Sonia Sau and Floriana Isola.

The Committee contested the works for the felling and replacement of trees, mainly of the Pinus pinea species, while the Regional Administrative Court judged the appeal unfounded considering that "the Region has correctly followed the landscape authorization procedure and that the Municipality has adequately balanced the needs of landscape protection with those of public safety, linked to the possible damage caused by pine trees".

For the judges of the TAR "the reasons that make it necessary to replace the plants therefore appear quite evident". Furthermore, " it is evident, in particular, that the protection of the landscape asset was balanced, in this case, with the pre-eminent interest of public safety, taking into account the fact that on several occasions some trees had already fallen suddenly, generating situations of risk and danger".

The councilor for public works Simone Prevete has already summoned the planners and the contractor company to plan the immediate start of the works.
