Omar's father: "No legal action against the driver. He was like a brother to my son."

"Enrico was Omar's friend, he was a brother to him. There is no hard feelings, no resentment. A tragedy has occurred. I learned that since yesterday, reports and rumors have been circulating on social media that I must deny. We will not file a civil suit against Omar's friend. It is baseless. Not only will we not file a civil suit in any eventual trial, but we will take no action against Enrico." These are the words of Massimiliano Masia, the father of the boy who died during the night between Saturday and Sunday after a frightening fall from a bridge in the Tempio countryside.
Massimiliano was part of the firefighters who tried in vain to save his son Omar's life and went to Calangianus, to the home of Enrico, the young man who was driving the BMW that fell from the Baldu Bridge: "I went to the boy's house; he was there, and we talked. To be close to him, that's what happened. We won't be taking any legal action against Enrico. We've appointed a lawyer, Nino Vargiu, who will assist us with all the formalities with the Prosecutor's Office."
Massimiliano Masia, 50, from Tempio (his father also wore the firefighter's uniform) has launched an appeal for everyone, young and old, to be careful on the streets.
He confirmed the support of the Fire Brigade: "They are like this, I feel the closeness of so many. This too is part of our profession, showing solidarity in times of difficulty, with dignity. We wear this uniform with pride and we are united."
Tomorrow at 3:00 PM in Calangianus, Omar Masia will be bid farewell for the last time in the Church of Santa Giusta. Mayor Fabio Albieri has declared a day of mourning: "We are united in our grief; Omar lives on in our hearts." The boy's father says: "Omar wants to be remembered like this, smiling and full of friends."
