Sardinia is preparing for the Ferragosto tourist boom. During the peak week of summer 2026 , 250,000 passengers are expected at Cagliari airport alone, an increase over last year.
These are the estimates provided by the management company for the southern Sardinia airport for the period between 7 and 16 August 2026. The data refers to the sum of arrivals and departures.
At Cagliari airport, around 1,550 aircraft movements are expected during the August bank holiday, while airlines offer approximately 280,000 seats.
The August rush will also be felt on the roads. Already this weekend, the 131 Carlo Felice highway was listed by the ANAS Road Mobility Observatory as one of Italy's busiest roads due to the influx of travelers and tourists.
