The noises that change the sound of the sea, the “noise” that modifies the marine ecosystem and disturbs the cetaceans in the Pelagos sanctuary. This is one of the themes of the observations that are arriving at the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security for the large offshore wind farms of Gallura. No one can say what the real impact is of the noise produced by cables and catenaries used to anchor the wind turbines to the seabed, there are no exhaustive studies on the plants that should be built in the sea of Gallura.

One in particular, the Nurax, would have a very high impact, the wind towers installed in front of the Gulf of Olbia are close to the perimeter of the cross-border area created to safeguard marine biodiversity , the Pelagos Sanctuary. But the Ministry of the Environment knows the issue very well, because it has been working for years to protect marine megafauna.

The Nurax is a project that includes, as stated in the documents of the authorization process, the installation of "33 wind generators with a total power of 462 MW, to be built off the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, in particular in the municipality of Olbia". The problem is that in the vicinity of the offshore park there is a system of underwater canyons inhabited by sperm whales, humpback whales, dolphins and fin whales.
