A 38-year-old man from Sassari has been in Bancali prison since yesterday, charged with serious assault. He was under house arrest and allegedly violated the order and damaged his electronic bracelet. The suspect is suspected of punching a 36-year-old man in the head on the night of June 8th, outside a bar in Sassari's industrial area.

The victim had been knocked unconscious after hitting his head hard on the floor. A couple of days later, he felt unwell and was admitted to the intensive care unit of Sassari Civil Hospital with a serious skull and nasal fracture. He then lapsed into a coma, requiring surgery to remove a hematoma. Fortunately, his condition improved in July and he was discharged.

The alleged attacker, identified by the Flying Squad thanks to footage recorded by the video surveillance system, had been placed under house arrest and an electronic bracelet, a measure that investigating judge Sergio De Luca, after the incident, decided to revoke.
