The Carabinieri del Ros arrested Graziano Mesina.

The super fugitive, who had become untraceable in July 2020, was tracked down in the night in Desulo in an operation by the Ros soldiers in collaboration with those of the GIS, the Nuoro Provincial Command and the Sardinia Carabinieri Hunters Heliport Squadron.

Mesina must serve a 30-year prison sentence that was notified to him by the General Prosecutor of the Cagliari Court of Appeal.

The carabinieri found him in the home of a couple in Desulo. It is not known how long it had been housed in that house, the two owners are being investigated for aiding and abetting and measures could be taken against them.

Mesina is in the Nuoro barracks and, according to what his lawyers Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier report, they are transferring him to the Nuoro prison of Badu 'e Carros.

The 78-year-old former red primrose of Sardinian banditry, the protagonist of sensational evasions, had fled one day before the Supreme Court confirmed the conviction for criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, knowing that that sentence would have reopened for him the prison doors.

In a year and a half several blitzes were carried out in the Nuorese and in the Orgosolo area to find "Grazianeddu". In recent months the most disparate hypotheses have been wasted, from the flight to Tunisia to that to Corsica.

Mesina had been included by Criminalpol in the list of six fugitives of maximum danger.
