He faced nine years in prison , but yesterday a court in Sassari sought his acquittal. A forty-one-year-old man from Ittiri is on trial charged with possession with intent to distribute large quantities of cocaine and marijuana, charges dating back to between October 2015 and January 2016. According to the charges, the narcotics were consumed and sold at the "Il Brillo Parlante" bar in Ittiri. The Carabinieri uncovered the trafficking ring through wiretaps and footage from security cameras installed in the business.
Approximately 51 incidents were documented by the Carabinieri, resulting in the indictment of 12 people: all but one have already concluded their legal cases. The defendant, 31 at the time, was on trial with two others on the more serious charge, and one of the accused, at the time, was also his partner, who ran the bar.
According to prosecutor Giovanni Porcheddu, there is no evidence that the 41-year-old is responsible and has requested his acquittal because the fact does not exist.
Defense attorney Dario Piu insisted on the point, recalling that "my client was the woman's boyfriend; he helped her in the bar, but had no role in managing the business or in the drug dealing." Indeed, in the various videos recorded by the Carabinieri, the man is never shown inside the bar, much less selling drugs. Judge Sara Pelicci adjourned the case until November 20th for further arguments and sentencing.
