He is convinced that it was the accused Fabio Fois, 57 years old from Girasole, who wounded him in the leg, chasing him and trying to kill him.

Thus Daniele Conigiu, answering the questions of the public prosecutor before the Court of Assizes of Cagliari, presided over by judge Giovanni Massida, and about the ambush that took place in 2017 in Villagrande Strisaili , during which the 37-year-old farmer Fabio Longoni was killed.

Conigiu, who then suffered a bad calf wound as a result of a gunshot, remembers well the terrible moments of the shooting, which cost his friend his life.

"I understood after a few seconds that it was him - said Daniele Conigiu - and I didn't say it right away because I didn't want to talk. Let me explain: if Fabio Longoni hadn't died, I would never have spoken."

Conigiu thus indicated Fabio Fois, assisted by the lawyer Marcello Caddori, now under house arrest and present in the courtroom next to his defender. He didn't see his face because the killer was misrepresented with a balaclava and was wearing baggy clothes, but he claims to have recognized him anyway from his gait. In short, if not a real recognition, the man who escaped the murderer three years ago believes that it was Fois who fired.

Thus continued the trial on the murder and attempted murder that sees as the only accused the 57-year-old from Girasole accused of killing Fabio Longoni and injuring Daniele Conigiu on November 22, 2017 in the country's countryside.

The accused was arrested three years after the facts and following a series of investigations coordinated by the prosecutor of Lanusei Biagio Mazzeo: for the accusation, Fois would have wanted to avenge the theft of two donkeys of his property, carried out by Longoni and Conigiu, considered a real affront.

The trial will continue on November 22nd.
