When the carters of Bari Sardo informed him that they were unable to transport the statue of San Gemiliano, the committee president refused to give up. Antonio Lai called upon his many contacts in the world of folklore: he didn't want to give in to bovine eczema and, above all, he didn't want to celebrate without such an emblematic traditional element as the ox-drawn carriage.
He found an available cart in Villa San Pietro, a town just outside Pula, 158 kilometers from Tortolì . Lai, president of the committee, of which he has been a member for forty years, for the second time since the 2002 edition, did not hesitate to close the deal with the owners of the traditional cart. Thanks to the oxen's vaccinated status 28 days earlier, they will be able to move the yoke and reach Tortolì just in time for tomorrow's procession at 6:30 PM.
It will be repeated on Sunday, with the return procession (7 pm) from the church of San Gemiliano to the parish church of Sant'Andrea.
