Previews last Sunday with the parade of local floats and Thursday with the first edition of "Su Marrullerino" for children were already a joyous experience. Now, great anticipation is building for "Su Marrulleri" tomorrow, Sunday, February 22nd. The entire community is preparing to welcome the large allegorical floats from across the island for the regional parade. This year's theme is "The Heart of Tradition" : a common thread that unites memory, identity, and creativity. The floats and masks will tell the story of Sardinia, past and present, drawing on popular culture, social satire, and the transformations of the present.
"With its engaging spirit," Mayor Luca Corrias emphasizes, "Su Marrulleri is an authentic experience, an explosion of joy and creativity that enlivens the streets, brings people together, and tells the story of our region through art, flavor, and fun. It's not just a celebration," he explains, "but a complex event that requires organization, responsibility, and the ability to safely welcome thousands of people."
The numbers. The 46th edition will also feature exceptional numbers , transforming the town center into one of the most spectacular and engaging parades on the entire island. At least 25,000 spectators , 30 allegorical floats , thousands of masks , and a 3-kilometer parade will take part. It's a true interprovincial gathering, attracting participants and masks from all over Sardinia. A huge effort has been made to ensure safety and hospitality: 250 people, including law enforcement and volunteers , fire engines, six ambulances , a dedicated medical station, and a comprehensive parking plan covering the entire sports area and surrounding areas. The route. Starting from Piazza Martiri, the parade continues along Via dei Martiri, Via Napoli, and the central Piazza Italia, continuing the celebration along Via Oristano and Via Tirso, until the grand finale in the splendid setting of Piazza Amsicora.
The events . A packed calendar of support initiatives and musical events will liven up the town center. The highlight will be the grand celebration following the parade and awards ceremony, featuring DJ Matrix. From 10 a.m., there will also be moments dedicated to food, with the "Marrulleri Food Experience," show cooking and tastings featuring local products, traditional recipes, and the finest products of Monte Arci and Terralbese.
For those unable to attend, the event will also be broadcast live on Videolina starting at 3 pm, with commentary by Mario Tasca and Stefano Brocchi.
