A targeted heist worth hundreds of thousands of euros, carried out this summer at the home of a wealthy Cagliari family . A serious mistake, a hat left at the crime scene , put investigators on his trail.

Police arrested and placed under house arrest a fifty-year-old man from the capital on charges of aggravated theft, committed with an accomplice who is still unknown.

The officers are convinced that he is responsible for a robbery worth approximately 300 thousand euros carried out on July 21st : several valuable objects, including works of art and valuable goods, were stolen from the victim's home.

The images from the security cameras and the testimonies collected by the Flying Squad officers, coordinated by the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office, had already put investigators on the trail of the fifty-year-old, considered a "specialist" in home burglaries.

The hat did the rest, the forensic police who found it inside the burgled house isolated a genetic profile that gave the investigation a decisive turning point: the DNA, in fact, was found to be fully compatible with that of the suspect, who confessed before the investigating judge, spontaneously handing over six paintings stolen from the house .

Investigations continue to identify the accomplice .
