The hearing to validate the arrest of the 43-year-old man from Santa Maria Coghinas who, on Tuesday around 10:30 PM, struck and killed the young Tunisian man Oussama Mahjoub while he was walking along State Road 200, the road that leads from Marritza to the center of Sorso, has been postponed until tomorrow morning, Friday, January 23.

This morning, the 23-year-old's body was returned to his family following an autopsy performed at the Sassari Institute of Forensic Medicine by coroner Francesco Serra, as ordered by the Prosecutor's Office, which is coordinating and leading the investigation.

The driver, arrested by the Carabinieri of the Porto Torres branch, is charged with failure to render aid and vehicular homicide. Assisted by lawyer Marcello Mura, the man underwent medical tests and tested positive for drug use, as confirmed by the Carabinieri of the Valledoria station, where he had reported after the accident.

A tragedy that has sparked controversy over the dangers of the 200 highway, where the lack of street lighting, the narrow carriageway, and the lack of sidewalks put the people who travel that stretch of road at risk every day.
