Macomer, a 67-year-old man who has been dead at home for two weeks

A new drama of loneliness has taken place in the center of Macomer .

The body of a man, who probably died two weeks ago, was found this afternoon in the apartment where he lived, in a building in the populous Santa Maria district .

It is a pensioner originally from Pozzomaggiore, Battista Piredda, 67 years old , who lived alone. He had no relationships with relatives and friends or even with the tenants of the same building.

The alarm was raised by the landlady, who had been trying to contact him for several days, but without getting an answer. Even the tenants never became suspicious, as there was no smell and the entrance door to the apartment was barred as usual.

This afternoon the carabinieri and local police officers intervened and managed to open the door. The man was lying in his bed and showed no injuries and there was no sign of a struggle inside the house.

Probably the man, being a heart patient, suffered a heart attack.
