I was there last December 8th when the iron bridge between Villaputzu and Muravera was urgently closed by the Province of South Sardinia to make it safe (it would have been at risk of collapse).

A year after the closure - with the works proceeding slowly (it is unlikely that the deadline of 3 June 2025 for the completion of the works will be respected) the mayor of Villaputzu Sandro Porcu lashes out against some people "who toast and celebrate", he underlines, "for the anniversary of the closure of the bridge and also allow themselves to make fun of the construction of the ford".

Porcu reiterates that "we did the best we could with what the rules allowed us to do. Considering that it was not the Municipality's task and that we had to replace the responsible bodies, I don't say thank you, of course not, it would be asking too much, but at least show a minimum of respect for those who took on enormous responsibilities given the national and regional rules on rivers, bridges and fords. I'm not saying this for myself, I'm saying this for our offices, the technicians and the company that worked on it."

There is therefore a reference to the old administrators of the town: «The 80s», he adds, «were the years when the new 125 was being planned, initially planned near our town centre and in Santa Maria. And they were also the years when we should have demanded an interchange as the other Municipalities demanded and obtained. If in those years we had fought to obtain that type of road system today we would be talking about something else».

For the mayor «it would be curious to see who administered the country in those years do so now with the laws of this period and with the resources available today».
