The rows of eucalyptus and cypresses weaken the eye, they are so infinite. The almost secular stem of each "foreign" plant rises impetuously on the skyline of the great mountain. They had planted them with painstaking skill when land reform was in its infancy. The objective was meteorological, to lighten the wind's gait on the agricultural crops of the immense plain at the foot of the Cervo Oasis, between Assemini and Uta, in the heart of Monte Arcosu. The lands are a checkerboard drawn with a precision tachymeter, perfect rectangles, no less than twenty, thirty hectares each. They had to be model farms, to get the local economy off the ground. They didn't have time to spend the public money to set up these agricultural quadrants before the greedy mania for industry at all costs requisitioned everything, including the companies already established. All bought back, always with other public money.

Para-industrial turnaround

Investments, they called them. The goal was to use those agricultural areas to establish new industrial activities. The theorists of the time, para-economists of the chimney, maintained that it was necessary to maximize public investment, increasing employment and economic development, through industry. According to the theses of the 1970s, agriculture and pastoralism would not have given what industry could give. They "seized" everything with public "tickets", just to bring under the aegis of the then Industrial Consortium of Cagliari, now Cacip, those thousands of agricultural hectares to be transformed into industrial areas with a pencil. Crossing those Avenues and Streets traced by the windbreak strips, between Macchiareddu and the Pedemontana, is like entering an apocalypse that has only been announced, where everything has remained intact, where, however, everyone has fled, leaving rusty gates still closed, with no fence protect the farm. And yet, the public hand, indeed the pocket of the citizens, is still right here putting its hand on the hydraulic regulation of the territory, as if it were preparing for a great event. The guard channels, close to Riu S'isca de Arcosu, the stream that injects itself from the mountain directly onto the plain, are ringed in orange, as if the maintenance yard had just now regained strength.

Neither industry nor agriculture

In reality, in this seduced and abandoned land, devastated by human carelessness and insipience, neither new agricultural crops are arriving, much less productive activities. For weeks in this desolate and deliberately futureless land, almost as if the intent was to leave room for speculators of all kinds, there has been bankruptcy everywhere. Heavy bulldozers, motor graders capable of transforming those lands into billiard fields, with a mission as "solar" as it is dark. In the morbid silence of the public administration, headed by the Region, projects and environmental assessments are denied with public procedures prohibited by the shameful and permanent justification of "We apologize for any temporary inconvenience in downloading the files listed below. We are working to improve the service." To find out what is happening right next to the Oasi del Cervo, all that remains is to enter the labyrinth of those promised lands, in the financial world of tax havens, in the secret rooms of notaries across the Tyrrhenian Sea. When you have left behind a cyclopean-sized farm, where everyone has fled for decades, and you have traveled no less than a kilometer of a Beverly Hills-style tree-lined avenue, you come across a steamroller who, after having canceled sheepfolds and olive groves , is turning an endless expanse of land into a dance floor. The road crossroads does not help orientation, but that gap just opened between the "ecological" fences leaves no room for doubt: here is the American landing in Sardinia, a stone's throw from the WWF Oasis, on the slopes of Monte Arcosu . The pace of the Yankees is soft, marked by a financial apnea that has remained secret until today, when it emerges in all its virulence rattling off financial crossings and high-end operations. The entrance to the "farm" for now is prohibited only by a black signal hand that marks the halt for unauthorized "tourists". The large four-colour placard, on the other hand, is a list of companies and managers, almost as if they were building a nuclear power plant. Instead, no, they have to spread thousands and thousands of solar panels on that land, one of the largest photovoltaic parks in Sardinia. The figures are mind-boggling: 866,000 square metres, 120 football pitches, one next to the other. The sign only partially reveals the numbers of this descent into the land of Arcosu. The name of the project is encrypted: «Photovoltaic plant called “GGP Solar Farm” with a power of 69.52 megawatts to be built in the municipalities of Uta and Assemini within the perimeter of the industrial consortium of Cagliari». It is a pity that in the deliberative act with which the regional council, the Sardinian one, gives the go-ahead to the operation one can read very little industrial statements: «considering that olive trees have been mentioned among the shielding elements, it is recalled that the proponent, in moment of implementation of the project must comply with the provisions on the explantation and replanting of olive trees". It is the forestry, however, that gives the coup de grace to the bureaucratic claim to pass off those areas as industrial: the presence of eucalyptus and cypress windbreak strips, planted to protect agricultural crops, is signaled - it is written in the resolution -. As if to say, go ahead, destroy everything, but those cyclopean plants were used for "agrarian reform". And instead, now, in that para-industrial proscenium, "Sonnedix" has landed like a tsunami. Not one of the many companies that are plundering land to "solarize" in exchange for an endless vortex of state money. Sonnedix is much more. In every way they tried to make the Sardinia operation go unnoticed, but in the end, in the crevices of world finance, the veil fell. In reality, the protagonists of this American affair have managed the corporate castle with joints that make the Chinese boxes pale, companies born and buried within 150 days, just long enough to buy the entire Monte Arcosu chessboard and make it "disappear". in other newly established companies. A turnaround of companies which in the construction site cartel is summarized with «Sandalia Solar Farm», a ten thousand euro limited liability company, registered in the elite of Corso Buenos Aires in Milan.

The American landing

Behind this "Sardified" company, however, there is the number one in world finance: JP Morgan, the colossal American investment bank that knows only wind and sun in Sardinia. When the Stars and Stripes portfolio receives the Sardinian operation, “Sonnedix San Rocco” appears, the company delegated to close the sale of approved projects and shares. They set it up on June 23, 2022, and they made it disappear with a merger on November 25 last year. The chamber register of Milan confesses: company cancelled. The "after" operation is a mix of financial passages penned by a Milan notary who notes passages of shares worth a thousand and one nights, almost as if Enalotto were a game of luck for amateurs. When Sonnedix – global independent solar energy producer (IPP) controlled by JP Morgan Asset Management – completes the acquisition of the entire share capital of Sandalia Green srl and Green Karalis srl, owners of two photovoltaic plants under development in Sardinia, in that proscenium agricultural there are still olive trees and sheepfolds. The package also includes a 48.30 megawatt photovoltaic plant to be placed between Noragugume and Bolotana, in the Ottana plain. The American financial plans put the objectives on paper: the plants should have entered into operation by the second half of 2023 and the first half of 2024. The construction sites are late, the fences are starting to delimit the areas, already traced by those bands windbreaks that now disturb the American sun in Sardinian land.

The mysteries of the Arcosu sun

The financial plan of the operation has already been written: as soon as it is operational, they will immediately cash in the incentive "gift" tariff from the Energy Services Manager. In the side notes of the project they tell of an energy production sufficient for over 80,000 homes. It is a pity, however, that in Sardinia there will be nothing left, neither electricity nor work. The money, a great deal, will fly to the United States, to subsidize the funds of the largest investment bank in the world. The sun of Monte Arcosu now belongs to the Americans. However, many mysteries and many secret affairs are hidden in the notarial deeds.
