The verification activities and searches started in the evening by the operators of Crama, the Marine Animal Recovery Center that operates on the island of Asinara, have given positive results.
The confirmation of the nature of the nest and the presence of the eggs, arrived around 8 pm, about an hour after the start of the search. It is the first time for the splendid beach of Stintino. The Caretta caretta turtle was spotted laying its eggs in a hole about 50 centimeters deep, creating a sort of incubator, which was abandoned after about an hour, when the animal left its tracks on the sand to continue its journey into the sea.
The Barracellare company of Stintino, the Forestry Corps and the Crama - Asinara Marine Animal Recovery Center promptly responded to the report and proceeded to delimit the egg-laying area to ensure maximum protection. The Crama has started the necessary procedures to analyze and preserve this rare event, constantly monitoring the area to ensure the safety and well-being of the eggs.
After the exciting discovery, the Crama operators proceeded to fence off the area. A few steps from the shoreline, a delicate area where attention will be maximized to ensure the hatching of the eggs. And then there will be another event to celebrate.
