The John Paul II hospital and Mater Olbia , in agreement with the regional health department, have established a new collaboration program which should alleviate the emergency situation of the public structure during the tourist season. In particular , operations for the fractured neck of the femur and cerebral hemorrhages will be diverted to the hospital - in the event of John Paul II's overbooking - thus avoiding the transfer to other Sardinian structures.

The regional councilor Carlo Doria and the general managers Marcello Acciaro (Asl Gallura) and Marcello Giannico (Mater Olbia) announced it this morning in a press conference in front of the emergency room. "A moment of full integration between the public structure and a reality of excellence such as the Mater which is part of the regional health network to all effects", commented Doria who also announced future collaborations in urology and in particular oncology. A piece that adds to other collaborations already underway such as those in Oncology. «The road – observed Acciaro – is that of complementarity between the two realities that must integrate. We called it a catamaran operation, like two hulls that go together». Especially with the summer numbers. «We are very happy – said Giannico – to collaborate with John Paul II which in the summer has the same entrances as a large Roman hospital. We work in an area of great tourist interest and tourists must also be offered adequate health services».
