Aya was born in Sardinia, her father and mother are Moroccan and live in Marcalagonis. Today he is 12 years old and on 14 December, together with 29 other winners from all over Italy ( including some Sardinians ), he will receive the "Alfiere della Repubblica" certificate of honor from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.
Aya Jedidi speaks Arabic and Italian. During the school year he helped Hayears, a girl of the same age who came from Morocco and did not know a word of Italian. The head teacher of the Manzoni Institute in Maracalagonis, Emanuela Lampis, immediately promoted a study project with the teacher Francesca Congiu, where Aya was the real protagonist.
She started following her friend who had just arrived in Sardinia, taught her the first words of Italian, then much more, also teaching her compatriot at a distance during the closure of the school due to the pandemic.
"Aya is an extraordinary girl - said Professor Lampis - an altruistic girl, very good, serious, humble, capable of interacting with everyone. So also Hayears, who came to us without speaking a word of Italian, joined the school. found the friendship of all. A beautiful, extraordinary story. A lesson for all. This is the real school, a school above all of life ".
The good news was also commented by the mayor Francesca Fadda: "Aya, thanks to her gestures, her altruism, her kindness has become a precious bridge for teachers and classmates, always ready to offer clarifications or explanations, in contexts didactic as in recreational ones. With her impulse of solidarity through spontaneous and kind gestures she won over her companions and for this reason she is recognized as a model of good behavior ".
