A fire has broken out in the countryside of Bortigiadas, in the Corso La Fronti area, where extinguishing operations are underway, coordinated by the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps. The Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations (DOS) of the Bortigiadas Forestry Station is on site, coordinating the ground and air response.

A helicopter from the Limbara operations base was initially deployed to battle the flames. The helicopter is also operating the affected area with a thermal imaging camera to more precisely pinpoint the areas still affected by the fire and monitor the progress of the front.

The situation is further complicated by frequent changes in wind direction, which are encouraging the flames to spread and making containment operations more difficult. For this reason, a Canadair, CAN 8, was dispatched to assist with the firefighting operations from above.

As the fire spread further, a second aircraft was requested: a Super Puma helicopter from the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps' operational base in Alà dei Sardi was also dispatched to the scene.
