The go-ahead for the restyling of the Romanesque church of San Pietro di Ponte in the historic cemetery of Quartu has arrived from the Archaeological Superintendency of Cagliari. The intervention of the Administration also includes the ordinary maintenance of the external façades of the entrance to the monumental cemetery, with the cleaning of the friezes at the top, removal and replacement of the portions of deteriorated plaster and subsequent restoration, painting and recovery of the railings.

The church will be subjected to cleaning of the walls from incrustations resulting from atmospheric agents, maintenance of the roof with replacement of deteriorated tiles and verification of the waterproofing and drainage channels.

The total work amounted to 80 thousand euros, divided into 70 thousand for the intervention on the perimeter walls and 10 thousand on the church. The funds were raised from the sale of noble tombs.

From the same Superintendency, the ok has also arrived for the ordinary maintenance on the external facades of the historic church of Sant'Agata, in the central Piazza Azuni, to restore the decor conditions of the building following the detachment of plasters and paintings in some portions of the facade main and side. The cost amounts to 11 thousand euros plus the expected charges.

Finally, there is a favorable opinion for the extension of the municipal cemetery with, among other things, a three-storey structure in which 6 columbaria will be housed for each level for a total of about 2,900 niches and 200 ossuaries; the walkways around the niches and a toilet block, divided by gender, consisting of an anteroom with double sinks and a toilet compartment for the handicapped.
