Gigi Riva has died

Gigi Riva has died.

Rombo di Tuono had been hospitalized since Sunday at the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.

He was 79 years old.

Riva was in the Cardiology department following a heart attack that struck him while he was in his home.

His condition at first did not seem worrying, although there had been speculation that he would have to undergo heart surgery.

A medical bulletin had been issued in the afternoon. It read: «The patient is calm and his general conditions are stable. He is currently under the surveillance of healthcare personnel and cared for by his family. In the next few days we will continue with the clinical investigations of the case."

In the evening the sudden worsening of the conditions, with death arriving at 7.10 pm: the sky resumed its thunderclap.
