Genoveffa, Elettra, Azzurra and Gavino. These are the four Caretta caretta turtles released on 9 October from the beach of San Giovanni di Sinis, whose journey is constantly monitored by GPS, to analyze their state of health.
"After four months - said the regional councilor for environmental protection, Gianni Lampis - the information, transmitted through the satellite devices with which it was released, is very interesting and characterized by stops, sometimes prolonged, alternating with large journeys to new places. Genoveffa, Elettra, Azzurra and Gavino are constantly tracked thanks to a project funded by the Regional Department of Environmental Defense and by the National Research Council, as part of the activity of the Regional Network for conservation of marine fauna ".
"The movements of the four turtles testify to their good health conditions. The treatments received in the Veterinary Clinic of the Two Seas and in the Sinis Recovery Center, controlled feeding, motor rehabilitation, carried out in large physiotherapy tanks before release, and the scientific monitoring contributed to the reintroduction in the best possible conditions of the animals within their natural environment ", added the commissioner.
