Fordongianus bids farewell to the 30th edition of the International Trachyte Stone Sculpture Symposium.

Saturday evening, in the evocative setting of the Roman baths, the awards ceremony, presented by Pina Vacca and attended by several local authorities and the regional councilor Diego Loi. This year too, no ranking, but recognition to all the participating sculptors, who had the opportunity to present their works created in a week of passionate work, which saw them engaged on the banks of the Tirso river. Oscar Aguirre Comendador (Cuba), titled his sculpture "Fordongianus, sa bidda de s'abba chelenti".

Valentino Giampaoli (Marche) wanted to pay homage to two common fruits, the apple and the pear, and in particular the latter which is very common in Fordongianus. Lyudmyla Mysko (Ukraine) created a work featuring two identical figures who develop vertically, but head in different directions. Lorenzo Murru (Sardinia) created “Elements in time”: «Three decades, thirty years of Symposium represented as detached elements, but united by light and shapes shaped to ensure that everything fits together in a single figure».

From Tabaton Osbourne (England) “An anthropomorphic amphora”, a sculpture that draws inspiration from the shape of the amphora, which becomes a body. Finally Valeria Vitulli (Molise) with "Ascolto", a work that recalls the waves of the Tirso.

«We are happy to have arrived at the 30th edition of the Sculpture Symposium and extremely satisfied with the work carried out by the artists, whom we sincerely thank - declared the mayor of Fordongianus Serafino Pischedda -. Thanks also go to the associations and volunteers who did their utmost to make the Symposium a success. Thanks also to Don Omar and the architect Franco Niffoi of Orani for the description of the works".

The mayor added: «The statues of the Symposium will be temporarily displayed at the entrance of the spa or hotel. An important showcase with a notable influx of visitors. The Municipality is in negotiations with various bodies for the placement of the works in other centres, as has already happened in the past".

The International Trachyte Stone Sculpture Symposium was organized by the Municipality and Pro loco of Fordongianus with the collaboration of the Sardinia Foundation, the Terme di Sardegna and Forestas, and with the support of the Region.
