Another morning of intense work for the firefighters , especially in Quartu , who were busy emptying basements that had been submerged by yesterday's rains, particularly on the coast.
The interventions affected several homes in via Lago di Varese, via Tulipani, and via Mossa . Damage was also recorded to materials and vehicles stored in the same basements.
Interventions were also carried out on some roads that were flooded in some sections.
The exceptional weather events of last week and yesterday, including in the Quartu area, were confirmed by the water flow rates, which far exceeded those supported by the existing collection and drainage networks. In addition to the significant outflows from the municipal drainage and drainage network, there were also continuous releases of runoff from the dams and reservoirs located upstream of the Corongiu and Sa Pispisa streams . "All events," says Mayor Graziano Milia, "were immediately addressed with interventions by the Fire Department, the Municipal Police, volunteer organizations affiliated with the Authority for the purposes set out in the Municipal Civil Protection Plan, as well as by municipal technicians and workers."
An inspection was conducted in recent days. Mayor Graziano Milia was joined by Regional Councilor for the Environment Rosanna Laconi, the head of the same department's Cabinet Cesare Moriconi, Metropolitan Mayor Massimo Zedda, and technicians and officials from the Municipality of Quartu and the Metropolitan City itself. "There is certainly a need," Mayor Milia added, "for extraordinary interventions to restore public works and facilities, private structures , as well as to provide essential support for damaged agricultural and livestock farms and other productive activities ."
In the meantime The weather alert has been extended to today , although downgraded from orange to yellow. The risk of hydrogeological and hydraulic damage remains high for Campidano, Iglesiente, and Flumendosa-Flumineddu. Civil Protection, however, urges maximum vigilance , given the number of floods reported yesterday, such as the one in the Cuore parking lot near the Unipol Domus.
Forecasts predict " clear skies across much of the region " over the next few days, but this will only be a respite: experts warn that the precipitation will highlight "marked instability for next weekend."
