In Orroli, archaeology meets radio waves. This morning, the imposing setting of the Nuraghe Arrubiu was transformed into an open-air radio station.

The radio amateurs of the Italian Radio Amateurs Association (ARI) - Cagliari Section have activated an exceptional transmitting station in the service center area of Sardinia's "Red Giant".

"The event," said Alessandro Boi, president of the Petrass Foundation and mayor of Orroli, "aims to combine the valorization of the island's historical heritage with the promotion of radio technology culture." Using HF and VHF frequencies, ARI Cagliari operators established international links, broadcasting the history, charm, and uniqueness of the Nuraghe Arrubiu.

Visitors to the archaeological site closely observed the field radio station, learning the ins and outs of shortwave transmissions and engaging in conversation with the operators. "This activity has a dual purpose," said Dell'Ari President Sergio Melis, "to raise awareness of the archaeological site in the amateur radio community and to raise the profile of our association."
