On the occasion of its 138th anniversary since its foundation, Stintino is preparing to commemorate and celebrate a date of great significance. On the night between 14 and 15 August, the skies will light up with spectacular fireworks on the Cristoforo Colombo seafront, in honor of the important anniversary of the seaside village.

One hundred and thirty-eight years ago, the inhabitants of Stintino were forced into exile from the island of Asinara to make way for a hospital in Cala Reale and a penal colony in Cala d'Oliva. An exile that marked the birth of Stintino on that portion of land that we know and love today. The echo of those painful moments still echoes in the words of the elderly, in the stories handed down by grandparents, in the melancholy memories of a distant but not forgotten past.

The celebrations of the anniversary and memories of Stintino will begin on the night of August 14, with a fireworks display organized by the Tourism Department on the Cristoforo Colombo seafront. On August 15, the heart of Stintino will beat to the rhythm of the dances and popular expressions of the international festival "A Manu Tenta". Sardinia, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina will be the protagonist groups of this twenty-fifth edition of the folklore festival which from 9 pm will invade the main streets of the country with a parade.

"Over the years, Stintino has evolved its identity, going from a quiet fishing village to one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sardinia," said mayor Rita Vallebella. «However, despite the visible transformations, the soul and profound values of our country have remained faithful to the roots of 1885».
