Fires, there's no letup: emergencies throughout Sardinia

Another day of intense work for Sardinia's firefighting teams. Numerous operations were carried out to put out the blazes that broke out in various locations across the island.

Between Teulada and Sant'Anna Arresi the fire attacked a rugged area between Perdaiola and Su De Is Seis and the intervention of a Canadair was also necessary to support the men of the Forestry Corps ( READ ).

Another Canadair that took off from Ciampino intervened in Macomer , together with two Forestry helicopters, in the Riu Crastu Ozzastru area.

In Samatzai , a man of about 70 years old was injured while trying to put out a fire that broke out in a field ( READ ).

Flames also broke out along the 131 Dir , on the outskirts of Cagliari , with traffic suffering disruption ( READ ), and firefighters at work in the countryside of Capoterra , in the Is Campus area, to put out a large brush fire that rapidly spread to the external area of a disused company ( READ ).

Again, in Stintino approximately ten hectares of Mediterranean scrub and uncultivated land went up in smoke due to a fire that broke out in the “Cuile Novo” area near the sea at Pazzona ( READ ).

Interventions were also carried out in Villacidro , where two fires were recorded, one of which destroyed a farm and where many ground teams, local police, forestry corps and barracellare company operated ( READ ) .

Emergencies also in Ghilarza and Nuraminis , where a fire of probable arson has sent up in smoke around 300 hectares of land ( READ ).

In Thiesi, however, the flames affected the Chessa Muri area and required the intervention of a Super Puma, which took off from the Fenosu operations base.
