"This morning, through my lawyers, I filed a complaint against the violent attackers and vandals who defaced the facade of my headquarters and that of the Brothers of Italy party on Saturday afternoon . The documentation, supported by videos and photos taken during the demonstration, clearly shows the perpetrators, many of whom were dressed as ISIS-style jihadist extremists." This was stated by Sardinian MP Salvatore Deidda of the Brothers of Italy party, after the defacement of the building in Cagliari during last Saturday's demonstrations .
"The charge," reads the statement released by the Parliamentarian, "is Defacement and Defacement of Others' Property , as provided for and punished by Article 639 of the Criminal Code, with the aggravating circumstances of immovable property and public demonstration, and the further aggravating circumstance of the purpose of harming the prestige of the institution . The second paragraph of Article 639 of the Criminal Code provides for a specific aggravated offense when "the act is committed on movable or immovable property used for the exercise of public functions, with the purpose of harming the honor, prestige, or decorum of the institution to which the property belongs."
"It's always the same people, who for too long have been able to act protected by politics and ideology at multiple institutional levels, vandalizing the city, occupying public buildings, threatening this or that institution," the MP concludes, "but now the limit of patience has been exceeded."
