The environmental association Gruppo d'Intervento Giuridico (GrIG) yesterday presented four opposition acts to as many requests for maritime state concession for the construction of offshore wind farms in the island's seas.

These are the projects we have reported on in recent days, and they are not the association's first acts of opposition, which have now reached 18.

The concessions, explains the GrIG, were requested " in the absence of any preventive planning, any consideration of the need for the energy that can be produced, any verification of the usability of the energy that can be produced, any assessment of the environmental impact ".

The last four projects are San Pietro Nord , 33 wind turbines for a total power of 504 MW on over 170 square km of sea between the islands of San Pietro and Sant'Antioco; San Pietro Sud , 34 wind turbines on over 200 square km of sea for a total power of 510 MW, 23 km from the island of San Pietro and 31 from the coast of Portoscuso and Capo Pecora (Iglesias); Sardinia South 1 , floating off-shore wind plant in the territorial sea area in front of the southern coast of Sardinia, in the stretch of sea in front of Capo Teulada and Isola del Toro, with 64 wind turbines for a power of 1,600 MW out of approximately 400 square km of sea; and Sardinia South 2 , another similar plant with 30 wind turbines for a total power of 750 MW between Capo Teulada and Capo Spartivento.

The requests are presented by the Milanese companies "Ninfea Rinnovabili", "Regolo Rinnovabili" and "Avenhexicon".

The other opposition requests previously presented by the GrIG concern a total of 918 wind towers for a total power of over 15,000 MW to be built on thousands of square kilometers of Sardinian sea .

A total of ten projects for offshore wind farms in the seas of southern Sardinia have been prepared and deposited at the offices of the Port Authority of Cagliari, with 335 wind turbines in all planned. Three other projects have been deposited at the Olbia Port Authority offices , with a total of 308 wind turbines planned. Three other projects have been filed with the Port Authority of Porto Torres , with 120 wind turbines planned.

Almost all the companies that have submitted applications are based in Milan, apart from two which are located in Rome, one in Portoscuso and another which is part of a Swiss group.

In detail:

- Repower Renewable , of the Swiss Repower Group, presented an offshore wind farm project off Capo Teulada, with 33 wind turbines.

- Nora Ventu , a Milanese company resulting from the agreement between Falck Renewabless.pa and Blue Float Energy, presented two projects for floating offshore wind farms with 93 wind turbines for a total capacity of 1.4 GW at 18 nautical miles southeast of Cagliari . They promise as many as 4,000 jobs in the construction phase and 300 in the management phase.

- Ichnusa Wind Power , based in Milan, wants to build 42 floating wind turbines 265 meters high about 35 kilometers from the Sulcis coast, for a total power of 504 MW. The application for the maritime state property concession was suspended in April 2021 after a deed of opposition presented by the GrIG itself and by some municipalities (Carloforte, Portoscuso, Buggerru).

- Seawind Italia , based in Portoscuso, is planning 48 wind turbines, applications for state-owned maritime concessions for two offshore wind farms, Del Toro 2 at 21 nautical miles southwest of the island of San Pietro and Del Toro 1 at 6 nautical miles off the island of Sant'Antioco;

- Tibula Energia , based in Milan, wants to build 65 wind turbines (975 MW in total) in the Gallura sea.

- Zefiro Vento , based in Milan, is planning 210 wind turbines in the sea of northern Gallura for a power of 3150 MW.

- Acciona Energia Global Italia , based in Rome and the Spanish capital, wants to build 32 wind turbines in the western sea of Sardinia for 480 MW of power.

- Nurax Wind Power , based in Milan, is planning 33 wind turbines in the sea of northern Gallura, 462 MW of power.

- Avenhexicon (joint venture between the Hexicon group and Avapa Energy), based in Rome, intends to build 140 wind turbines for 3,500 MW of power, partly in the north-western Sardinian sea and partly in the Gallura sea.

- Poseidon Wind Energy , based in Milan, is planning 72 wind turbines for a total electrical power of 1008 MW in the Gallura sea;

- Regolo Rinnovabili , based in Milan, wants to build 34 wind turbines for 510 MW of power on 270 square km of sea in front of the coast between Sinis, Montiferru and Bosa.
