A forty-five-year-old man was injured after being hit by a flame following a gas leak.

The man from Norbello was immediately treated and transferred to the Sassari Burns Center. His condition is serious but not life-threatening.

According to initial reconstructions, it appears the 45-year-old had changed a gas cylinder. Then, a gas leak appeared from the pipe leading to the kitchen, immediately erupting in flames that engulfed him. Neighbors raised the alarm, a moment of great concern, especially since his 10-year-old daughter was also at home . Fortunately, she was in another room at the time of the gas leak and, aside from a fright, was not injured.

Emergency responders arrived immediately and requested the Areus helicopter to transport the man to the Sassari Burns Center. The 45-year-old remained conscious throughout but suffered burns to his lower limbs. Initial assessments, however, indicate his life is not in danger.

Firefighters from the Abbasanta detachment were also on site , putting out the flames and securing the kitchen and the entire affected area. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the gas leak; the hypothesis is that a fault may have occurred.
