Family celebration day for two thirds of Sardinians. The preference is to be with your loved ones and, between lunch and dinner, local products linked to tradition on the table.

In the kitchen, says a Coldiretti /Ixè analysis, almost three hours will be spent.

There are those who will take care of the meals, and 85% will prepare them personally - specifies Coldiretti - but there is also 7% who will order everything to take away, while 4% will rely on dishes brought by relatives or friends.

On average there are eight diners but with many differences between the various regions. Sicilians and Sardinians will be on average 10, in the North-West 7.

The average expenditure amounts to 115 euros per family, 10% more than the 2022 holidays, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels, after three years characterized by war and Covid. For Sardinians, however, it will be around 148 euros.

If in the Christmas Eve menu - continues Coldiretti - fish was above all king, at Christmas meat prevails and boiled, roasted and fried dishes win, from lamb to turkeys, but also soups, soups, stuffed pasta, cappelletti in broth and rustic pizzas.

Among the must-have products - concludes Coldiretti - sparkling wine is confirmed for almost nine out of ten Italians (89%) together with local seasonal fruit (88%), while panettone with 78% narrowly beats pandoro in the preferences 73% although 58% also choose traditional local desserts.
