Flurry of inspections by the Carabinieri of the Nas of Sassari to verify compliance with the production and sale rules of chocolate eggs, doves and all the other sweets that will end up on consumers' tables on the occasion of Easter and Easter Monday.

Around sixty checks have been carried out in recent days at production laboratories and markets. In 18 cases, irregularities were found and violations contested, which led to fines totaling around 30 thousand euros.

A total of 855 kg of finished products , ingredients and semi-finished products for expired desserts were seized or, as we read in a note from the Army , «detained in structurally and hygienically unsuitable environments and with rodent infestations».

Following the reports from the NAS, the competent health authority ordered four measures to close or suspend as many commercial and production activities.

«The violations mentioned above – underlines the Carabinieri – emerged from checks on the correct application of hygiene procedures and the use of safe ingredients, thus revealing violations relating to

lack of cleanliness and hygiene of the processing and storage environments, failure to apply preventive food safety procedures, failure to trace products and irregular labelling".
