Sixteen fires were reported today in Sardinia. Five of them required aerial intervention, thanks to the prompt action of ground and air teams, which allowed the burned area of the blaze that broke out in the Carbonia countryside to be contained. A helicopter from Pula, two volunteer teams from Carbonia and Villamassargia, two from Forestas (Carbonia and Iglesias), and a team from the Carbonia fire department responded to the scene.
The blaze originated at five points on the border between the municipalities of Illorai and Bolotana . It affected approximately two hectares of pastures and stubble, and extinguishing operations concluded at 6:00 PM after about an hour and a half. Two helicopters took off from Anela and Farcana, carrying three Forestas teams (Bolotana, Bono, and Illorai), along with two Barracelli teams and volunteers from Illorai.
A similar situation occurred in the Goni countryside, in the Costa de Flumini area. Four fires, a hectare of Mediterranean scrub, and part of the pastures burned: air operations lasted three hours , with helicopters from San Cosimo and Villasalto. Also present were two teams of volunteers from Sant'Andrea Frius and Goni, two from Forestas (Escalaplano and Villasalto), and the firefighters from Mandas.
In Villasimius, near Bau Minnai, a helicopter from Villasalto assisted local volunteers and the Cagliari firefighters. Helicopters from Sorgono and San Cosimo responded to a fire in Genoni that affected two hectares of stubble. A team of volunteers and a Forestas team from Laconi, as well as a firefighter team from Mandas, also assisted in the operation.
