Eni confirms that, due to the need to increase aviation fuel supplies from the Rho depot to Malpensa Airport, workloads have been balanced across the entire logistics system, particularly at the Porto Torres depot, which, due to its tourist-related vocation, is particularly busy during the summer.
This is how the multinational explains the decisions made regarding the staff at the Porto Torres coastal fuel depot, the site that has seen three workers reduced, transferred from the local plant to a facility in Northern Italy. This corporate decision has prompted the CGIL, CISL, and UIL trade unions to call a two-day strike with a picket line outside the company gates in the industrial area.
The issue of staff reductions also raised concerns about the safety of workers and facilities, as highlighted by the territorial secretaries of Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl, and Uiltec Cisl, Gianfranco Murtinu, Davide Tilocca, and Giovanni Tavera, on the first day of the strike.
"This is a temporary arrangement, which will have no impact on safety measures," Eni replied, "which complement the automatic systems at the Porto Torres depot, ensuring the required safety standards. Operational hours have also been reduced from 12 to approximately 7 hours a day." On November 14, unions and workers will again demonstrate in front of the coastal depot. City Councilor Antonello Cabitta and Mayor Massimo Mulas also spoke in the council chamber to support the workers' demands.
