Emergency landing in Cagliari this afternoon for a Pegasus flight departing from Barcelona and heading to Istanbul, on board which a 50-year-old Russian passenger suffered a serious heart attack .

The plane - an Airbus A321 - was flying over the skies of the north of the island when it raised the alarm asking for permission to land at the Elmas airport and requesting urgent medical assistance. From the control tower they immediately gave the OK and so the flight turned south, landing on the Mario Mameli runway at 4.20pm.

There he found the team of airport emergency doctors waiting for him who came on board and resuscitated the Russian passenger who was in cardiac arrest . Thanks to the timely use of the defibrillator, the man recovered and was then urgently transported to the emergency room of the Brotzu hospital for further checks and treatment.
