July salaries were paid today. August salaries will have to wait, but the San Saturino Foundation promises to take "all necessary recovery measures" to pay the outstanding month.

This is what emerged from the meeting held this morning in Cagliari between representatives of the CGIL Fp and the management of the operational arm of the diocesan Caritas regarding assistance and solidarity activities for those in need and poverty. On the agenda was the delay in workers' salaries , a situation described as "serious" by the union and which has been ongoing for some time.

The delays, as anticipated by Caritas director Don Marco Lai, are said to be caused by a series of debts the foundation owes to other organizations that have not yet been collected.

Specifically, according to what the CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour) announced today, the problem concerns critical issues arising from "new reporting procedures" introduced by the Ministry of the Interior for payments related to reception activities and "the methods resulting from the management of interventions, on behalf of some municipalities, under a co-planning regime."

The workers, who are thought to be around a hundred, hope that the delays won't be repeated after the July salary payments. The CGIL itself has announced that it has agreed to meet with the foundation again by October.
