The fire has been contained, but the flames that broke out this morning between Bono and Bottidda in the N.ghe Larattu area have put the firefighting machinery to the test.

The damage assessment indicates dozens and dozens of hectares of forest up in smoke: numerous holm oak and cork oak trees were burned. Fortunately, the flames were stopped before they reached the Monte Rasu convent, a site at an altitude of 1,000 meters, an important testimony to the presence of the Franciscans in Sardinia.

The Forestry Corps operated with several aircraft , seven in total. Specifically, three helicopters from the Anela, Bosa, and Sorgono bases, two Super Pumas from Alà dei Sardi and Fenosu, and two Canadairs. A third Canadair had been requested, but it failed to reach the area.

The flames were extinguished in the evening, with the support of specialists from the GAuf group of the Forestry Corps, who conducted counterfire operations . However, concerns remain that the fire could restart.
