Shahid Masih had put Paola Piras at a crossroads: "Go back with him or die".

This is what the judges of the Court of Assizes of Cagliari write in the reasons for the sentence with which they ordered the life sentence for the 31-year-old former coachbuilder, accused of the death of Mirko Farci and the attempted murder of his mother, Paola Piras.

In the middle, in Masih's mental plan, there was Mirko, son of the woman who had decided to break off the sentimental relationship with her ex-partner who arrived from Pakistan. According to Masih, Mirko was guilty of hindering his mission, which is to try to win back that woman.

The key issues: on the one hand the recurrence of the contested aggravating circumstances, i.e. having committed the facts with premeditation, on the other the ability to understand and want the defendant, who had started using cocaine after the end of the relationship.
