The letter that the opposition in the Regional Council sent to the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, refers to an "explosive situation". The note, signed by the group leaders Gianfranco Ganau (Pd), Francesco Agus (Progressives), Eugenio Lai (Leu) and Roberto Li Gioi (M5s), refers to the emergency rooms of almost all Sardinian hospitals. At the basis of the current state of affairs, "the combined effects of the spread of the Omicron variant, even in hospitals, of the increase in health needs by patients suffering from all other diseases, combined with the ignorance with which the Regional Council has faced the emergencies ".

It also reported "the serious discrepancy between the data communicated daily by the Region to the ministry and those empirically found in the most important hospitals on the island". In fact, they underline, "the practice of admissions to hospitals only theoretically not reserved for Covid patients has become practice". A situation that, they still denounce, is creating "very serious problems in the daily management of patients suffering from other pathologies and in compliance with the safety procedures inside the hospital structures".

Finally, the Center Left and the M5s complain that "all the most important hospitals on the island have been forced, for weeks, to reduce the activity of surgery only to urgent interventions and to allow hospitalizations in any department, regardless of the pathologies".
