A tragedy was narrowly avoided in Castiadas where a car flew off the road and caught fire after the driver, a tourism entrepreneur, lost control due to a stray animal, probably a wild boar, that suddenly crossed the road.

It happened last night in the Sitò area: a car, a Citroen, with three people on board, was driving along a small road when the animal appeared. The driver, perhaps trying to avoid it (he succeeded), lost control of the vehicle, which caught fire after crashing.

The Citroen was completely destroyed by the flames, which also attacked the nearby brush. The three occupants managed to abandon the vehicle, remaining unharmed. Only one of them suffered some bruises.

The 118 emergency services intervened on site with ambulances, the Carabinieri of the San Vito company and the firefighters.

The military, coordinated by Major Massimo Meloni, carried out the legal surveys: no trace was found of the animal that caused the accident. Probably the driver of the car managed to avoid it and it went away.
