"Forget about sustainable mobility: we are faced with yet another bloodbath at the expense of citizens. The municipal administration continues to harass the people of Cagliari with visible and hidden taxes, disguising them as ecological choices."
This is how Alessandro Serra, city secretary of Forza Italia, comments on the new parking rates at Poetto, in the hippodrome area, which can reach up to 14 euros per day.
"They even have the courage," Serra continues, "to say that they do not want to burden citizens economically. First they drastically reduced parking spaces, then they reserved a quota to appease residents and now they show the true face of a vampiric policy."
They say, Serra continues in reference to the municipal administration, "that they want to impose the use of public transport with monstrous rates for parking, but in reality behind the reason of the alleged sustainable mobility there is yet another tax. It is a hypocritical and punitive policy".
According to Serra, it is the same logic already seen on the Tari: «There too, environmental protection was discussed, but the result was an out-of-control tax, calmed only with the artifice of the 9 million from the Region», which in any case always come from the pockets of citizens. In this way, an elitist vision of the city is created, with the usual wise men who preach giving up the car but only for others, who are making the city more chaotic and dirtier and who want a Cagliari open only to those who can afford it. In this way, public space is restricted and those who cannot afford alternative solutions are penalized. It is not sustainability, it is social exclusion disguised as progress».
