Fires in Orroli, Jerzu and Furtei: Helicopters in flight in Sardinia

Eighteen fires, three of which required helicopter intervention, broke out today in Sardinia.

Here is the report from the Forestry Corps.

• Fire in the countryside of the Municipality of Orroli, Rio Ortu, whose extinguishing was coordinated by the personnel of the Escalaplano Forestry Corps Station, assisted by personnel on board the helicopter from the CFVA base in Villasalto. The team of the Escalaplano-Unghecuaddus Forestas Agency and the Orroli municipal team were present on site. The flames covered an area of several hectares of wooded pastures. Flight operations ended at 15:20.
• Fire in the countryside of Jerzu, loc. Genna E' Cresia, whose extinguishing was coordinated by the personnel of the Forestry Corps of the Jerzu, Osini Stations, assisted by personnel on board the helicopters from the CFVA bases of San Cosimo, Villasalto, the Super Puma of Fenosu. The GAUF CFVA of Lanusei, the VVf of Lanusei, the teams of the Forestas Agency Jerzu-S'Omu and S'Orcu, Cardedu-Piccioi were present on site. The fire affected pastures and Mediterranean scrub. The extinguishing operations ended at 18:00.
• Fire in the countryside of Furtei, loc. Zinnigas. The fire was coordinated by the Sanluri Forestry Station, assisted by personnel on board the Helicopters of the CFVA bases of Pula, Villasalto, Farcana, the Super Puma of Alà dei Sardi and by personnel of the GAUF CFVA of Cagliari. On site there are teams from the Barracelli of Furtei and Sanluri, VVF teams of Sanluri and Mandas, a team from the Forestas Agency of Villacidro-Centro Urbano, volunteers from Villamar-Prociv.
