103 inmates were transferred to the island from Regina Coeli prison after the partial collapse of the roof at the Roman penitentiary.
The Department of Penitentiary Administration (DAP) has communicated the distribution: 26 in the Alghero prison, 20 in Uta, 31 in Massama, Oristano, and 26 in the Bancali prison in Sassari .
Following the unions' request, the regional superintendent of the judicial administration department, Domenico Arena, has called a meeting of the unions for Friday 17 October at 10 am to discuss the number of prisoners in Sardinian prisons .
In a statement this morning, the unions denounced the crisis in the Alghero prison, where the arrival of new inmates has led to a "profound upheaval in staff services" .
The Fns Cisl has also brought to the attention the issue of the 90 prisoners under 41 bis who will soon be transferred to Uta , a fact which «would further increase the pressure on the institutions and on all the staff».
