The story of the fawn raised by a family from Castiadas, then rescued and moved to the protected area of the Settefratelli State Forest, between Sinnai and Burcei, spans a year and a half. During this time, the story almost became a scandal, between the reasons of those who had saved it from almost certain death and loved it like a son, and those of the Italian state, which prohibits the keeping of wild animals except in cases specifically provided by law, such as rescuing animals in distress. However, the animals must be handed over immediately to the relevant authorities. And this is the mistake Mayla Seu admits she made when it all began, in May 2025.

The case

"That day my husband was out with the cattle when he found the little deer stuck in the mesh of a fence. He freed him, hoping he would rejoin his mother, but after several hours, seeing him remain there, he called me to ask what we could do," begins the woman who raised and cared for the fawn, nicknamed Bambino ("Because he reminded me of Bambi," she explains).
