Yet another flaw in the conduct of the Northern Sardinia Reclamation Consortium , with over 1000 hectares of artichoke fields and other production at risk in the Coghinas Valley . There is water but it is rationed, so there is anger and concern among farmers. «We are talking about the most important horticultural district in the central north of the island, with over one hundred companies and almost four hundred workers employed in the fields», underlines Confagricoltura Sassari and Olbia-Tempio . According to the president, Stefano Taras , «it is nothing new that the pipelines of the reclamation consortia in a large part of Sardinia are now obsolete and no longer adequate to guarantee water in the fields on a constant basis. The tragedy is that every time pipelines burst and therefore emergencies occur, the only ones who pay are always the farmers. We ask the Region that, in collaboration with all the stakeholders involved, an investment plan for the modernization of the networks be launched as soon as possible."

«Water has been rationed to 24 hours of distribution per week, not even half of the minimum that would be needed to support production. The rotation of the water resource mainly affects the cultivation of artichokes, with 1,000 hectares of the approximately 1,800 cultivated in conditions of extreme suffering", explains Giovanni Pes , farmer from Valledoria and member of the Valle del Coghinas cooperative .
