Orange alert for flood risk from Sarrabus to Gallura, passing through Ogliastra and Baronia, and into the hinterland of these areas: the risk color is assigned due to river flow, which is being monitored. The alert is yellow for the Cagliari, Sulcis, and Medio Campidano areas. Meanwhile, the island's maps show green in the Oristano and Sassari areas, and therefore in the western, central, and northern areas.
Here's the new color scale for Sardinia according to the latest warning from the Civil Protection Department, with alert regimes in effect until 11:59 PM tomorrow, Thursday, January 22nd.
The storm brought by Cyclone Harry has passed, and it's time to assess the damage. While the monitoring networks for rivers, streams, and reservoirs remain fully operational, the Region has opened discussions with the government: Governor Alessandra Todde spoke this morning with Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini, and ongoing discussions are also underway with the other ministries responsible for natural disasters.
Meanwhile, Palazzo Chigi issued a statement: "The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, is closely monitoring the development of the exceptional wave of bad weather currently affecting Calabria, Sardinia, and Sicily, in constant contact with Minister Nello Musumeci and the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Ciciliano."
Meloni, it states, "is particularly close to the affected communities and recommends following the instructions of local authorities, avoiding any risk. She thanks the Department of Civil Protection and local authorities, regions, municipalities, and prefects for their efficient forecasting and warning efforts. The government will support the communities that have suffered damage. In the coming days, Minister Musumeci and Department Head Ciciliano will travel to the affected areas to identify, together with the presidents of the affected regions, the actions needed to overcome the emergency."
